It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Love it or loathe it, it’s coming! You can probably guess that Team Nostara is in the 'love it' camp, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. But, one thing's for sure, if only due to time alone, our Christmas preps are a bit different this year.

You’ve seen our schedule of fairs in the festive lead up. We've often had to double up (and have even called our husbands into duty) to cover all our bookings. Thanks, by the way, for your encouragement of our hubbies as they’ve travelled the country, asking people if they’d like to sample our wares!

So, there will be less cards written and more focus on keeping things simple. And, it seems it’s not just us. There’s a whole movement of less waste and valuing what we have. For some, it’s about ditching the crackers, for others not throwing out food or doing without 'nonsense' presents. Christmas is taking a bit of a different turn. People are looking to experiences, instead of last minute gifts. They're giving their time, instead of throwing money at the Christmas bullseye. So long as the joy is left in, what’s not to like?

Cherish

So, we’ll be cherishing what we have this Christmas. Whether that's counting the few hours we spend with particular loved ones or pulling together our little clans after lots of time apart.

One of us will be jetting off for a totally different Christmas*. And the other? Well, different has been done before - I seem to recall an Indian banquet for Christmas Dinner!

New rituals might well be formed as our children morph into adults. And old traditions may well revisited with a bit of eye rolling. But we’ll certainly be making the most of our precious time together.

‘Delighting in the detail’ is a phrase we heard the other day and maybe that sums it up. It’s the little things that count. So instead of giving each other presents this year, Team Nostara has decided to plan a special treat together in January (when we have a bit more time!) Something to look forward to and special times to remember, because our year has gone by in a blur!

And finally…

We’re excited to discover what Christmas and New Year will feel like under a hot, hot sun (quite nice, we’d imagine!) Will there be any Christmas decorations? Will there be festive food? (Happy either way!)

Then, the only other burning question will be: what alternative Christmas food will be served back here? Sushi?!

*Naturally, taking a Frosted Fir travel candle or two!
