So, who are we?

We’re Nikki and Alex - best friends living in the heart of Somerset, surrounded by glorious countryside and cider makers!
BC (Before Children) we loved our careers in teaching and law but then immersed ourselves in the role of full time mums - through the nappies, Sports Days, PTAs (phew!) and revision stresses.
We survived to tell the tale and now here we are on the cusp of our children flying the nest and we’re ready for our next challenge.

What was the idea?

Stomping across the hills walking Nikki’s beagles (yes you, Charlie and Lola!), we had our ‘light bulb’ moment. We realised that having made a great team during our PTA years, we should take the plunge and work together. With different styles and ideas, but a shared love of home fragrance and beautiful things, we decided to create scented candles and reed diffusers that appealed to us, our families and friends, and now, we hope, you!  

So, Nostara was born…

Why ‘Nostara’?

It’s simple - we wanted our brand name to reflect the start of this new chapter in our lives. ‘Nostara’ is rooted in the name ‘Ostara’, the Goddess of Spring who represents ‘new beginnings’ - the perfect expression of where we found ourselves.  And, who doesn’t want to feel a bit like a goddess sometimes?!

Our candles are hand poured in the South West of England, using 100% natural soy wax and both our scented candles and reed diffusers use the finest fragrance and essential oils.

Whether you like zesty freshness (try our Bergamot & Black Tea) or if sweet treats are more your thing (reach for Sweet Nectarine & Vanilla) -  there’s a fragrance for everyone. Our current favourite is Burnished Amber. As the last glow of summer fades to autumn, we adore this reminder of the exotic heady days of summer, as we hunker down for cosy evenings in.
