With assorted Christmas music on a loop, we set to work on the creation. Blending essential oils of Oakmoss Absolute, Cinnamon, Bergamot and Cedar Leaf, the aroma of Christmas started to build (we felt like we were in the middle of Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’ video!)
As we developed our collection, we realised that we wanted to do more than just tell our florals from our fougeres. We were both keen to deepen our understanding of fragrance and so we searched out our own perfume guru.
How do you name a fragrance? Naming can be a tricky task - there are no rules. And so we wanted to make sure that our final selections for our luxury home fragrance range were informative, but not too dry.
Part of our mission, when starting Nostara, was to engage with our creativity in a way that our previous incarnations (as a teacher, lawyer and as mums) had not enabled us to… except for the occasional PTA extravaganza!
It’s simple - we wanted our brand name to reflect the start of this new chapter in our lives. ‘Nostara’ is rooted in the name ‘Ostara’, the Goddess of Spring who represents ‘new beginnings’ - the perfect expression of where we found ourselves.
